"Teenage rebel movie about an intelligent boy developing a bad natured alter ego to impress the girl he loves. Despite its influences ranging from Badlands to Breathless and a likeable central performance by Michael Cera, this is actually quite disappointingly dull and most of its energy gets sucked out by a slow start and a sluggish pace. However, though it’s hardly a representation of this generation, it is stylishly interesting thanks to an array of creative elements such as the use of animated sequences."
