AMERICAN GUERRILLA IN THE PHILIPPINES (1950) - ♦♦

Directed by - Fritz Lang

Written by - Lamar Trotti, based on the novel by Ira Wolfert

Starring - Tyrone Power, Michelle Prelle

"The account of a group of American guerrilla fighters in the Philippines, waiting for MacArthur to reach the country that has been taken over by the Japanese. Left alone in enemy territory, the only signals they are sent is in messages printed on the back of cigarette boxes and received through homemade transmitter.

Despite American Guerrilla in the Philippines being a Fritz Lang production, it feels rather cold and distant, and lacks its celebrated director's personal touch. While the film retains some kind of tension that makes some of its sequences sufficiently gripping, overall, this is quite a forgettable war movie with an awkwardly placed romance in the middle that doesn't seem to have aged all that well."
