"After being discharged from the army, a young man goes to meet his contract killer brother whom he idolises and becomes involved in the criminal game. 

Brother is possibly the perfect representation of Balabanov’s cinema, which delves upon the crime drama genre and flirts openly with it on satirical grounds. 

The film has many engaging twists and turns, as well as an array of interesting and colourful characters. Of these, the central character of the young man who worryingly seems a natural in the criminal Russian gangland is particularly well developed and well represented by its actor Sergey Bodrov Jr."
