"The fictionalised story of how Askey’s popular BBC programme came about, by taking advantage of television equipment used by German spies to put on their own pirate show.

Band Waggon is really an old fashioned British film that lends itself to the variety genre all too simply, and where the narrative feels like surplus if not careless enough to downright get in the way of the fun of the film. Though the quick witted dialogue is often enjoyable, the film hasn't aged well and occasional preachy allied war propaganda doesn't do it any favours either."
