"With Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Walt Disney was to change the world of animation for ever. This was, in fact, the first feature length animation film. Based on a popular fairy-tale by the brothers Grimm, this is the story of lovely Snow White, who takes refuge in a small house inhabited by a group of friendly and colourful dwarfs to escape the evil queen that seems keen on making her life a living hell out of jealousy. It’s strange to think that the whole project was thought a crazy idea – the detractors had to change their minds. This feature not only laid the blueprints for the countless other damsel in distress and prince charming fairy tale story lines that would be brought to the screen in animation form, but also shaped their magical atmosphere that did not disregard intriguing dark undertones – although also never let down the happily ever after ending. The film itself is very entertaining and the animation too is technically perfect for its time and it’s no wonder that Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs has been enjoyed by generations and will most likely continue to do so with future generations as well."
