"A mentally challenged young man from a rural town a small town in the Czech Republic, often mistreated by family and other people around him, decides to set off to Prague without a word of a warning to meet his brother who is living in the city. Once there, however, he ends up lost and helplessly exposed to the vices, dangers and hostility of the capital city.

More than being an informed representation of mental illness, JAN TESITEL's feature debut DAVID aims to represent a more general and drastic situation of vulnerability and marginalisation.

The narrative is widely centered around its titular character, played by constantly puppy eyed PATRIK HOLUBAR, also in one of his first cinematic efforts. But the lack of a rewarding narrative also maked for a less than average character development, that appears autopiloted.

While the bleak tones of the feeling convey the intentions of the filmmaker well, thanks to a cinematography that disguises the micro-budget the film was made with, David is ultimately bland and doesn't particularly stand out as something that hasn't been done or seen before."
