While the film is exciting and doesn't shy away from violence and gore, it has a central sweetness which comes from the unusual relationship of the hitman and the little girl which is tasteful and adds a welcome Chaplinesque element to Leon. The performances too are memorable, Gary Oldman's psychotic villain turn is a pleasure to watch."
