"Calvary" by John Michael McDonagh announced as opening film of the 2014 Jameson Dublin International Film Festival

Calvary by John Michael McDonagh, director of The Guard, was announced today as the opening film of the 2014 Jameson Dublin International Film Festival. The film stars Brendan Gleeson, Chris O'Dowd and Aiden Gillen. Calvary is described as a darkly comic thriller and It is the story of a priest, who is threatened during a confession and must battle with the dark forces closing in around him. The opening gala will take place on Thursday 13th of February 2014 at the Savoy Cinema in Dublin.
 
Four other films that will be shown as Dublin's biggest film event of the year were announced in the past few days; the Dutch film Borgman by Alex van Warmerdam, Irish documentary No Limbs No Limits by Steven O'Riordan, Morgan Neville's award winning documentary 20 Feet From Stardom and John Curran's Tracks which stars Mia Wasikowska in the leading role.
 
The 2014 Jameson Dublin International Film Festival will run from the 13th to the 23rd of February.
