Here, the story is more outlined by darker tones and a deeper psychological aspect as Peter Parker struggles to live with his powers and at the same time must fight off arch nemesis Doc Ock. Despite the many different storylines that intertwine within this one addition to the saga, Raimi skilfully makes sure that everything stays well balanced while never getting in the way of the fun that made the previous film with the usual wit and sense of humour as well as a knack for exciting action sequences, spectacular special effects and a style that comes close to representing faithfully the style of the comic books."
