"The Mexican Revolution is the setting for assassination plots and betrayals in this fast speed spaghetti western with political undertones.

The intricate story sometimes stumbles under its own weight, yet the overall effect is exciting even in the colourful and chaotic moments. This is certainly to be considered one of the most entertaining and indeed impressive westerns of the spaghetti era.

Damiano Damiani’s A Bullet for the General is fun and exciting, filled with action packed sequences and a snappy and witty dialogue, as well as a top notch cast with Gian Maria Volontè unusually playing a good guy role in a western.

Top marks for the memorable score by Luis Bacalov, that accentuates the fun atmosphere and plays upon the traditional Mexican flamboyance of the story."
