THE BIG SHAVE (1968) - ♦♦♦♦

Directed by - Martin Scorsese

Written by - Martin Scorsese

Starring - Peter Bernuth

"A young man shaves again and again, every time nicking his face and drawing more and more blood.

The Big Shave was meant to represent the War in Vietnam, a job that was supposed to be clean and turned out to be messy, violent and disastrous. This early Scorsese short is a provocative cinematic metaphor, seemingly simple but very well and meticulously photographed. It already seems to represent the style that would he present in his future films, but as a matter of fact is influential in its own right."
