"Levinson and Williams collaborate again for an initially interesting and finally underwhelming and disappointing film Toys. It is the story of the son and mechanised daughter of a toymaker who leaves his toy factory in the hands of a warmonger general brother. The stupidity of its lead characters makes even the plot developments seem uninteresting and very hard to care for. On top of that, sadly, the screenplay seems unable to deal with its blatant anti-war messages in subtle and intelligence way, leaning towards obviousness and cliché instead. Even the art direction adds to the mess of this film."
