A somewhat underrated work in DeMille's celebrated filmography. This is a portrayal of unfaithfulness and marital paranoia is also quite a wonderful example of the type of "controversial" and morally ambivalent Hollywood movies that inspired the establishment of the Hays code.

 

The Affairs of Anatol is actually quite an impressively modern and daring study of relationship psychopathology, and remarkably makes use of a fair share of tongue in cheek humour to illustrate its narrative with a jagged edge and added bite."
