"The story of a talented but unstable fighter pilot. Hot Shots is widely based on Top Gun but borrows elements from other blockbusters of its time. The result stands out among the too many comedy spoofs of the same kind, with well coordinated gags and some really funny performances by the cast. In the end, the film ends up being a quite graceful exercise in stupidity and a worthy successor to previous works such as Airplane and Blazing Saddles."
