"Blanche DuBois visits her sister in New Orleans where she is tormented by her brutish brother in law, as she deals with her harsh reality and hides a secret identity. Despite its classicist style and staginess which nevertheless adds to the tension and drama of the piece, the film touches on some racy and adults subject in a genuine and ahead of its time manner. That in itself would be enough for Kazan's film to be considered a landmark in American cinema. To top it off, the acting is amazing, an Brando's interpretation of Stanley is a memorable star making performance, as he oozes charisma and unpredictability."
