Black Pond is a sometimes witty satire on the media as well as a dark comedy on the helplessness at the face of merciless twists of fate. However, more often than not, it is more irritating than thought provoking. This is because of its fundamentally banal style and an overtly precious tone that feels more sarcastic than poignant. 

Furthermore, despite the fact that the film is also watered down to fit the feature length, the narrative is clumsy and full of holes on top of being unnecessarily intricate."
