LOVE MEETINGS (Comizi d'Amore) (1964) - ♦♦♦♦

Directed by - Pier Paolo Pasolini

"LOVE MEETINGS is a provocative and somewhat undiscovered gem in PIER PAOLO PASOLINI's filmography.

The documentary sees the celebrated filmmaker travel far and wide across his native country of Italy, asking people - mostly from the lower and uneducated classes - about love, marriage, sex and other more "taboo" topics.

In turn the film becomes a priceless insight on the Italian socio-political culture of the time. And what is equally as interesting is that indeed, it finally reveals that the world in which the films of the great Italian filmmakers of the time, still marked by the oppression of the Catholic Church and even the aftermath of the Fascist regime, indeed existed, and was in come cases in its naive ignorance undoubtedly involuntarily funny."
