5/12/2014 - Best of the Marx Brothers Season at BFI Southbank

On January 2013, the BFI Southbank will be celebrating the anarchic genius the Marx Brothers in a short but perfectly formed season that will feature eight of their most famous and beloved films, from their first film The Cocoanuts of 1929 to their 1946 production of A Night in Casablanca and including other works such as A Night at the Opera, A Day at the Races and an extended run of what is perhaps their most influential film Duck Soup, which they made in 1933.

Born in New York City of the latter 19th century, the five Marx Brothers Chico, Harpo, Groucho, Gummo and Zeppo would soon become legends of the vaudeville stage, and eventually (though without Gummo) graduated to the cinema to make ageless comedy classics that still feel contampotary and relevant to this day.

The Best of the Marx Brothers season will be running at the BFI from the 14th of January to the 31st.
