The official awards of the 8th Rome Film Festival

The 8th Rome Film Festival came to an end this past Sunday, 17th of November. The international jury chaired by James Gray and composed of Veronica Chen, Luca Guadagnino, Aleksey Guskov, Noémie Lvovsky, Amir Naderi, Zhang Yuan assigned the following awards.

 

The Golden Marc'Aurelio for Best Film went to the Italian-Croatian co-production Tir by Alberto Fasulo. The film follows a truck driver in his everyday life, and has been noted for perhaps capturing the boredom of its character's life too closely.

 

Kiyoshi Kurosawa won the best directing prize for his first film shot outside of Japan Seventh Code, about stalking. A special jury prize went to filmmaker Andrei Gruzsniczk for his role in the Romanian black and white drama Quod Erad Demonstrandum.

 

TirTwo A-listers won the best acting awards at this year's Roman film fest. The best actor award went to Matthew McCoughaney for his role in Dallas Buyers Club by Jean Marc Vallée and the best actress award went to Scarlett Johansson's role in Her by Spike Jonze. Incidentally, the two are also in a recently shot commercial for Dolce and Gabbana directed by Martin Scorsese.

 

The entire cast of Gass (Acrid) won best emerging actor or actress in the feature debut by Iranian director Kiarash Asadizadeh. Koichi Takashashi won best technical achievement for his work in Seventh Code. Turkish filmmaker Tayfun Pirselimoglu won the best screenplay award for his film I Am Not Him.
