DEVIL IN THE FLESH is an adult drama very much defined by its sexuality. The film even teases some type of supernatural reading, through allegoraical examinations of the story, but also the leading femme fatale played by the beautiful MARUSCHKA DETMERS, in a brave and colourful performance that saw her become the first international star to perform real fellation in a film.

However, BELLOCCHIO is prone to excesses in trying to expand and experiment with a thin narrative in an underwhelming and confusing way. In the end, the film's sexuality is the only true driving force in a film that is otherwise impossible to perceive as anything but a forgettable and pretentious drama with giallo undertones."
