"DEVIL'S KNOT is ATOM EGOYAN's lyrical take on the much publicized case of the WEST MEMPHIS THREE, in which three young men were convicted of the brutal murder of three kids. It is primarily seen through the predicaments of one of the investigators unable to accept the outcome of the trial as fair and just, and one of the mothers of the slaughtered children, as she slowly comes to a realization. 

The film is defined by EGOYAN's characteristically sophisticated construction of the narrative, in which for instance, he plays with the story's chronology. Even this approach can't better a plot that is quite average, and has possibly since its release also lost the interest it must have garnered having been made some ten years after the brutal event took place. "
