"In this early silent version of The Wizard of Oz, Dorothy is an eighteen year old Kansas girl who is kept away from the kingdom of Oz, which she is the rightful queen of. This film served as a vehicle for slapstick comedian Larry Semon, but buried his career. Apart from it being undoubtedly pricey and looking good, the film disregards plot by distorting it and altogether forgetting about it in favour of lengthy comedy gags that, truth be told funny, but alienate the audience."
