CineCola's Top 5 films of the 2016 One World International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival

Out of the 11 films viewed and reviewed during the course of the 2016 edition of the One World International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival, CineCola picks its top 5 - 5 documentaries that simply cannot be missed.

This year's annual edition of the One World International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival took place in Prague, Czech Republic, from the 7th to the 16th of November.

As the title of the festival implies, its program focuses on documentaries dealing with pressing human rights issues. A driving theme of this year's edition was that of home in the most general sense of the term, but particularly inspired by the migration crisis of recent times. The high number of works presented featured all the potential held by the documentary filmmaking form, and some of its titles defied classic categorization with their styles and approaches to subjects. A lot of the works used distinctive traits to highlight pressing issues and lead the audience in attendance to meditate and ponder upon them.

CineCola attended the festival, and viewed and reviewed 11 features during the course of its duration. Out of these 11 films, we chose our favourite 5, which we strongly recommend to our readers. This top 5, presented in order of preference, was selected out of only the features viewed and reviewed during the course of the festival. It therefore does not include features viewed and reviewed by CineCola at other festivals or during other various screenings.
