"In this remake of a 1936 film based on a novel by James Fenimore Cooper, Daniel Day-Lewis stars as a white trapper raised by a Mohican tribe who falls in love with the daughter of a British general involved in the war of the colonies. Along with his brother and his father, he must protect them from a Huron war party led by a warrior with a mysterious blood vendetta against the general. The Last of the Mohicans is a stunning piece of filmmaking by director Michael Mann which deserves its praise as an excellent epic romantic adventure for being so perfectly balanced and respectful of the times it is set in. Dante Spinotti’s cinematography is spectacular and really soaks in its naturally majestic setting, while Daniel Day-Lewis gives one of his most passionate and romantic performances."
