"A cat and mouse action thriller between two hitmen, starring Banderas and Stallone, hired to kill each other. 

Essentially, Richard Donner's film shows a lack of creativity, despite it being written by the visionary Wachowskis. It simply feels like an endless chase movie with two dimensional characters whose lack in substantial development makes it hard to side with. 

Some action sequences are worthwile, but even the charisma of leading men Sylvester Stallone and Antonio Banderas playing two polar opposite archetypes of "cinematic" hitmen can do little to elevate the relatively low standards of Assassins."
