ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST (1975) - ♦♦♦♦♦

Directed by - Milos Forman

Written by - Lawrence Hauben, Bo Goldman (based on a novel by Ken Kasey and the play version by Dale Wasserman)

Starring - Jack Nicholson, Louise Fletcher

"Forman's film is a brash and hard hitting comment on the social and political atmosphere of its time. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest still strikes as a great vision, while its structure and balance of black comedy with haunting dramatic aspects have gone on to influence many other films which have dealt with the same setting. Much can also be said about Nicholson, arguably at his best, who shows a great connection in his performance as McMurphy, a character that has become a symbol of anti-conformism, antagonised perfectly by Louise Fletcher as the 'totalitarian' nurse."
