Pixar to Ken Loach's rescue?

A Pixar illustration that accompanied their gift of editing tape to director Ken LoachAnimation powerhouse Pixar and legendary independent filmmaker Ken Loach have, many will agree, very little in common. Yet, they were brought together by a very singular incident.

Ken Loach is currently editing on Steenbeck what he said might well be his final film, Jimmy's Hall, about political activist Jimmy Gralton during the country's red scare of the thirties. Having run out of edge-numbering tape, vital for synching audio to video, he sent out a plea for help. This was heard and picked up by Steve Bloom, an editor at Pixar, who sent him 19 rolls of the tape Loach needed.

The tape was also accompanied by a sketch of Mike and Sulley from Pixar's Monsters' INC. franchise. And Loach can now happily get back to work.
