"A young Hollywood writer working on a novel goes on holiday to Paris with his fiancée and falls in love with the city. Destiny eventually catapult him to the twenties where he meets many of his artistic heroes. This film feels like the work of an intellectual and the work of an art lover, thriving on the artistic passion and romanticism which the city of Paris is often valued for. Midnight in Paris is also coated with a veil of nostalgia, and conveys a somewhat universal feeling of being born in the wrong age. Allen’s film is also a wonderful tribute to the city of Paris, showing it in all its glory and celebrating it as a muse for a lot of the greatest creative work ever made. It also has a fable like feeling, and bizarrely earns a title for the most tasteful and least conventional but nevertheless entertaining and delightful time travelling film ever made."
