"From the mind of George Lucas, who nevertheless once again left the director’s chair to another man with the choice of Richard Marquand, came the momentary ending of the trilogy that shook the world of science fiction and successfully blended it with a western genre feel. Here, we begin with the rescue of Han Solo from Jabba the Hut and we continue on with the epic battles and final confrontation between father Darth Vader and son Luke Skywalker. Yes, Return of the Jedi is a great final chapter, yet the nice darker shift in The Empire Strikes Back makes some of the more commercial and child friendly elements of the saga seem debatable in retrospective – for instance are the Ewoks adorable fighters or cartoonish characters. Nevertheless, the special effects continued to be ground breaking and spectacular, the cast continued to turn in iconic performances and the resolution of many of  the psychological and dramatic undertones widely satisfactory."
