OUR TOWN (1940) - ♦♦♦♦

Directed by - Sam Wood

Written by - Thornton Wilder, Frank Craven, Harry Chandlee

Starring - William Holden, Martha Scott

"Based on the famour play by Thornton Wilder considered one of the greatest American plays, this film tells the tale of the events surrounding two small town families from the year 1900 to 1913. The film rewardingly touches on some deep spiritual themes, daringly dealing with the after life in a deep and nostalgic way which in its finale becomes almost admirably experimental. Perhaps the narration gets a little annoying, there seems to be too much of it, but Our Town is a very touching and melancholic vision as well as a good classic tearjerker."
