"After the loose and exciting narrative structures of ECCE BOMBO and I AM SELF SUFFICIENT, NANNI MORETTI looked to slow down the pace and contextualise his autharchic vision of cinema as reflection on society with a more defined narrative arch.

In BIANCA, the story is that of an eccentric professor working in a strange and ingenious school who usually makes little mystery of his bewilderment and sociopathic tendencies inspired by the world around him.

While there is nothing particularly ingenious about the love story that arises between him and the attractive titular colleague, despite a rewarding final twist, it is impressive as usual to note the distinctive filmmaker infuse the storyline with a blend of endless creativity and willingly play with the cinematic medium through a free and exciting use of socio-politically aware satire.

Entertaining, clever and constantly interesting as well as slightly more accessible for a wider audience."
