20/02/2016 - "Fire at Sea (Fuocoammare)" wins the Golden Bear of the 66th Berlinale

Here is the list of winners of the main awards of the 66th Berlin International Film Festival.

 

The 66th Berlin International Film Festival has come to an end, and the winners have been announced. The verdict was draws by the jury presided by the multi-Academy Award winning actress Meryl Streep. Gianfranco Rosi's film Fire at Sea (Fuocoammare) was proclaimed the winner of the festival's main award, the Golden Bear. The director's previous documentary outing, Sacro Gra, had won the main accolade at another major film festival, the Venice Film Festival, where it claimed the Golden Lion.

Other main award winners were Lav Diaz's eight hour monolithic A Lullaby to the Sorrowful Mystery, claiming the Alfred Bauer Award, and Hedi, the debut feature by Mohamed Ben Attia winning Best First Feature and Best Actor, the latter award for Majd Mastoura's performance in the film.
