"A thief just out of prison and seemingly retired decides to have another go and reunites his gang to make one last hit.

The Asphalt Jungle is a film noir with a modern feel that feels edgy and is enriched by a clear underlining urban grit that is implied in the title. The story is exciting. Despite its intricate narrative tangling every now and again, it keeps a steady and entertainingly pace.

Sterling Hayden is very charismatic as the film's role, featured here in arguably his most memorable performance.

Today, John Huston's film is regarded as one of the most influential films of its kind, and indeed it went on to directly influence the similarly plotted Stanley Kubrick film The Killing - Kubrick even cast Hayden in the leading role of his film.

The Asphalt Jungle also features an early performance by Marilyn Monroe in a supporting role."
