31/7/2014 - The Tokio International Film Festival to showcase the works of Hideaki Anno

The Tokio International Film Festival has announced that it will be featuring the works of Hideaki Anno, one of Japan's most prominent filmmakers in a focus titled "The World of Hideaki Anno".

This will also be the first ever major screening occasion to showcase his works, including his major titles - such as the EVANGELION series that has become a global phenomenon - and rare titles from his undergraduate days.

Anime fans have reason to be excited. Toshio Suzuki, the producer of Studio Ghibli,
who collaborated with Anno for a number of works, described Anno as
the only man Hayao Miyazaki would ever acknowledge as his apprentice.

The showcase of Hideaki Anno is only one of the pieces of information that has been announced. In other news, the festival will open with the world premiere of Disney's latest feature film "Big Hero 6" and close withe the world premiere of "PARASYTE", the Japanese blocbuster film based on a world-acclaimed Japanese novel.

This year's Tokio International Film Festival (TIFF) will be on its 27th edition. The festival will be taking place at numerous venues in Tokio from the 23rd to the 31st of October 2014.
