A DANGEROUS GAME by Anthony Baxter

Golf. A rich man’s game was never more exposed as a luxurious and unhealthy habit as it is in Anthony Baxter’s latest documentary A Dangerous Game.

Much like his earlier work You’ve Been Trumped, his main target is none other than modern day Rockefeller, Donald Trump. However, he is not the sole target, just a good representative of the cast of obnoxiously self-righteous wealthy men and corrupt politicians that Baxter goes through to investigate on his subject.

For the sake of building luxury gold courses built for jet setting purposes and with no intention of sharing them with the common folk, they are the people that decide to trample all over some of earth’s most beautiful places (in the case of Scotland, protected areas). Ignoring the vast majority of people’s opposition to this unnecessary environmental disrespect, including a referendum held in Croatia, they somehow always seem to have their way. But some have had just about enough.

This time around, Baxter is a little more powerful and with his You’ve Been Trumped having garnered just about enough publicity for even his infamous target to become a little more than just irritated, he eventually gains a confrontation. One can rest assured however, that dialogue is not on Trump’s agenda, but in the process yet another dark side of the billionaire’s personality shows.

Ultimately, A Dangerous Game is not meant to come across as propaganda or even satirical exploitation. The idea is to give exposure to people like Michael Forbes who struggle to fight back the rich and powerful that aim to bully him off his land. It is the David and Goliath struggle that fuel stories such as this one - when an ordinary man living an ordinary life becomes a hero people dedicate folks ballads to.

A Dangerous Game is out in UK cinemas from the 12th of September.
