"For his feature direcorial debut, FRANCOIS PELOQUIN delves on dangerously familiar grounds by exploring the clash between a father and a son within a coming of age drama storyline. Thankfully, the honesty of the script and the genuineness of the pivotal father and son relationship, together with edgy intensity and an occasional sense of impending danger, adds strength and credibility it.

THE SOUND OF TREES takes place in the countryside of Quebec, and the different ways in which the different generations deal with and perceive rural life is very well illustrated not only through its main characters but also by everything else happening around them.

The honesty of such rich representation is echoed by the excellent leading turns of ROY DUPUIS in the role of his family's patriarch - a wry-witted but caring man, and ANTOINE L'ECUYER, a gangsta rap loving rebellious youth whose debauchery channels his frustration at the drag of his birthplace, as he imagines a future for himself far from his father's woodcutting business."
