WHERE ARE YOU BUCHAREST? (Bucharesti, Unde Esti?) (2014) - ♦♦♦♦

Directed by - Vlad Petri

"In a poignant portrayal of tragic absurdity, filmmaker Vlad Petri takes his camera to the streets to film the protestors that took to the same streets in an attempt to overthrow the Romanian government headed by Petrescu.

What starts off as a seemingly ordinary and normal - though still admirably brave - documentarian depiction not unlike the usual riot and protest footage seen time and time again on the eight o'clock news, it doesn't take very long for Where Are You Bucharest to reveal a much more compelling and interesting side. in fact, Petri scratches the surface and reveals the more theatrical side of the protests, the politics and even the violence by showing all kinds of crazy characters pulling off all kinds of stunds in the name of the revolution or quite simply people utilising the socio-political statement as a social gathering of sorts.

A lively and realistic portrayal, Petri lets the camera speak for itself and makes no use of conventional cinematic elements, opting instead for a more direct type of cinema that makes the representation all the more harrowing and even genuinely entertaining."
