"Set in the 1890's, a winegrower's family rebels against a powerful railroad and land baron. Things start getting dangerous when the baron murder's the family's patriarch. 

Blood Red is a revenge Western. Despite its revenge set-up, its embarrasingly underdeveloped emotive genuineness and awful dialogue makes it nothing but a succession of needlessly violent sequences. Peter Masterson's feature is now largely forgotten, and its only claim to fame comes from being a waste of a great cast, which also features the big screen debut of Julia Roberts in a speaking role."
