Borderline is the typical gangster matinee, driven by a second rate screenplay and uninterested direction. There's not much that allows it to stand out, in spite of Fred MacMurray and Claire Trevor sharing some good chemistry that makes their suspicious feelings a point of some interest throughout the film's duration.
