"Celebrated filmmaker BERTRAND TAVERNIER takes a look at the machinations of world politics, by examining the work of a the French Minister of Foreign Affairs, a charming man who seems nevertheless completely incapable to do anything without the assistance of the many members of his team that are responsible for every one of his activities.

THE FRENCH MINISTER is a work of political satire. It seems to want to make some powerful observations on a general state of politics that is not necessarily relegated to France, but fails to make any grand statement. Its sense of humour varies from tongue in cheek to slapstick like frenzy, but rarely gets any big laughs. It is an enjoyable film, but its standards are lower than one might hope, and has less bite than one might expect."
