"The film is imperfect. While the powerhouse performance by Daniel Day Lewis shows great character study, the film itself lacks it and disappointingly tries to squeeze Lincoln's struggles with the Civil War and slavery abolishment as well as aspects of his private life into a pre-structured plot that has been seen time and time again and does not allow much originality or depth. The film looks great."
