"The Fountain is essentially a love story spanning over a thousand years. The visuals are stunning and the sepia look is beautiful. However, it doesn’t seem to be able to deal with so many deep themes such as life, death, love and spirituality, and the lack of focus is no doubt a result of the lengthy and difficult production. In the end, Aronofsky deserves to be praised for his ambition is bringing his dream project to the big screen, but his ambition is not enough to forgive the film’s feeling of self importance."
