SPECIAL FLIGHT (Vol spécial) (2011) - ♦♦♦♦

Directed by - Fernand Melgar

"The title of SPECIAL FLIGHT refers to Switzerland's flights in which passengers are dressed in diapers and helmets, chained to their seats for 40 hours at worst and accompanied by police officers and immigration officials back to their native countries.

Such conditions are shown with great impact by filmmaker FERNAND MELGAR, who uses a fly on the wall approach in recounting the ordeal which the inhabitants of the Swiss immigration centre have to go through as they realistically wait for the inevitable while secretly hoping for an unlikely happy ending. We follow them in their everyday lives, as they share conversations, eat together and kill times. As they make appeals to the officials, and the appeals are timely rejected. And as they meet with their families, briefly.

SPECIAL FLIGHT is a candid representation of on the human condition, that doesn't need to be embellished with complicated structures nor does it require interviews to further illustrate the situation."
