"RADU MUNTEAN solidified his reputation as a key figure of the Romanian New Wave with his film BOOGIE, also known as SUMMER HOLIDAY. 

The film revolves around a family man who takes his wife and kid on a vacation on the beach. There, he runs into his old friends, and they end up spending the night together, reflecting on their lives and rekindling with their days of thoughtless drinking and sexual escapades. 

BOOGIE is a clever examination of a male mid life crisis, bittersweet and carried by a sense of poignant melancholia. The film's emotive genuineness is intensified by MUNTEAN's approach, which makes use of long unedited take and glacial pace that shift the focus on the characters and their interactions, as they all reveal their frustrations with their current lives. 

The tough truthfulness is intensified by the cast's excellent performances, headed by DRAGUS BUCUR, whose conflicts and frustrations are never overplayed and for this reason all the more powerful and human."
