"With a strangler on the loose, a bookkeeper wonders around town looking for the vigilante group trying to capture him. Allen unleashed great black and white cinematography that recalls the German expressionist style of old to create a cold and creepy atmosphere in his noir comedy, more concerned with existential satire than psychoanalisis. Despite the fact that the screenplay is imperfect, Allen puts together a great cast and while Shadows and Fog often feels underdeveloped on many levels, it is still quite rewarding."
