"Set in Berlin during the immediate post-World War Two airlift, The Big Lift by George Seaton follows the story of a flyboy who falls in love with a German woman and a Seargent with a hatred for Germans that fades as he gets more involved with helping them got up off their feet. 

The vast majority of the film feels like the typical outdated American patriotic war drama. It doesn't help that the film is slow and dull, although Montgomery Clift's charismatic performance is full of genuine sensibility that helps the film from totally falling into oblivion."
