Venice Days screening - short review - THREE MANY WEDDINGS by Javier Ruiz Caldera

A girlfriend, still shocked after her last break up, is invited to three of her ex-boyfriends’ weddings and takes her work assistant along with her for moral support. Three Many Weddings is just the typical Latin romantic comedy and its director Caldera never quite feels the need to expand on its conventionalism. While it has some splashes of creativity and a few creative set ups, the tasteful scene of the second wedding that happens to be a transsexual wedding taking place in a small and rural village of Spain, it is nothing new and nothing particularly interesting (though to its credit, it provided some much needed laughs at a Venice Film Festival dominated by bleak and even depressing features).
