"Rififi is a man just out of prison who, being without the woman he loves and without a dime in his pockets, rounds up his old crime buddies for one last robbery; but what should have been an ordinary job triggers bloody warfare in the crime scene of 1950’s Paris. While initially this French film seems to mimick standard American production, it soon becomes clear that Rififi dared more with added grit and violence. In many way, this was the work many robbery films mimicked for a long time. The film also has one of the most intense scenes ever filmed, the silent, gripping and suspenseful execution of the robbery itself, that is nothing short of praiseworthy. It also defied language barriers this film also became a worldwide success."
