"Benigni’s lively comedy shines in hisfeature directorial debut which is made up of four episodes; in the first he is the family friend of St. Joseph who agrees to babysit Baby Jesus, in the second one he is a man who is troubled for having lost his guardian angel, in the fourth he is a man trying to get a load off a bank to buy a house and in the fourth and final episode a guard to the romb of the unknown soldier. Apart from the energy of Benigni, which drives the movie, there is little of interest in this film apart from the theme of God and religion which, however undeveloped it may seem, still holds some ambition."
