Steph Green's Run and Jump wins Silver Spike at the 58th Valladolid International Film Festival

Steph Green's feature film debut Run and Jump picked up the Silver Spike award at the 58th Valladolid International film festival. Run and Jump is Steph Green's feature film debut and the follow up to her 2007 Academy Award nominated short film  New Boy . It had already picked up the Best Irish Feaure award and Best First Irish Feature award at the Galway Film Fleadh this summer.

 

Run and Jump is describes as an unconventional love story and an authentic portrait of a happy go lucky guy. Its cast includes Maxine Peake and Will Forte, the latter of Saturday Night Live fame in his first dramatic role. It is an Irish and German co-production of Samson Films and Bavaria Pictures.

 

The Golden Spike at this year's Valladolid International Film Festival (also known as SEMINCI 2013) went to the Japanese feature Tokyo Family by Yoji Yamada, about a Japanese family living on a small island in the Inland Sea. The Best Actor award went to Zbigniev Walerys for his performance in the Polish film Papusza, directed by Joanna Kos and Krzysztof Krauze. The Best Actress award went to Nora Navas for Puzzlement, a Catalan film by Mar Coll. The Best Director of Photography award went to Christopher Blauvelt for his work on Kelly Reichardt's Night Moves. Best Script went to Agnés Jaoui and Jean-Pierre Bacri for the French film Under the Rainbow by Agnés Jaoui. The Pilar Miró prize for Best New Director went to Diederik Ebbinge for the Dutch film Matterhorn.
